Dear Colleagues,
Renewing Education
I joined IVETA in 2023, and it has been a rewarding experience. Through this organization, I have established valuable connections and deepened my understanding of the importance of quality skills in today’s world. However, I’ve observed a concerning trend: high school and university graduates often lack not only broad knowledge but also basic skills. This highlights the urgent need for an educational overhaul that emphasizes practical skills for life, successful careers, and fostering a positive and action-oriented mindset to improve and bring peace to our world.
My career has been dedicated to serving as a minister in the Anglican Church in Australia. Since my college graduation, I have embraced opportunities to travel and engage with people from diverse races, beliefs, and lifestyles. A common sentiment I encounter globally is the call for young people and graduates to be more engaged in environmental stewardship, diversity, inclusivity, and humanitarian efforts.
Our world is in urgent need of change to ensure a peaceful existence that benefits everyone. We have the resources to address disasters, wars, and conflicts. What is needed now is a focused global effort, determination, and commitment to make a difference.
IVETA, since its inception in 1984, has been instrumental in educating, debating, and renewing the perspectives of educators. I am honoured to be associated with such a forward-thinking and open-minded institution.
