John is 64 and lives in Florida. He went to a small college in the mid-west, where he obtained a BA degree with a major in Business. After he graduated John worked for a large marketing company as a trainee manager in marketing, and within 3 years John was manager of his division, and then due to his sales skills he became a director of the company. John left the companyafter 10 years and set up his own company in advertising. The challenge was great, but John persevered against all odds and made his company a success – one of the biggest in the South with an annual turnover of $23 million. During his career he became very involved in the local community, and he was a generous benefactor to local needs, particularly helping disabled children. John was honoured as Business Man of the Year three times. To enable others to learn more about the challenges in business John facilitated workshops around the USA and internationally. Of course, being a keynote speaker enhanced his profile in the community and in his profession. John was always open to new ideas and challenges, and always made the effort to participate in advertising and marketing workshops.
The only regret that John had was not having an MBA degree. This was his dream and a goal. An MBA degree would elevate his status. Luckily while attending a meeting in Oxford he heard about ‘competency-based degrees’. A new possibility that was recognized by industry, commerce, universities and the professions. A formal assessment by Dr. Brenden Education Solutions (DBES) assessors of his achievements would evaluate his ‘competencies’ according to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). This was an opportunity beyond his wildest dreams. He did not have to go ‘back to college’, pay high fees, spend hours learning what he already knew, and taking time off from work and family. He explored this exciting option. John proceeded, and within a month he had been accessed to level 7 required for an MBA degree. Thereafter, he attended a Warnborough official awards ceremony in the historic university city of Canterbury (UK). With other worthies, John was applauded for his achievements and praised for his determination and foresight in achieving his goal through Dr. Brenden Education Solutions (DBES).
