Lifelong Learning, DBES, Competencies, Warnborough

The Dr Brenden philosophy is that education should be available to all, and that lifelong learning should be valued and recognised.

For over 300 years, the Tempest family have been involved in some form of education, particularly providing elementary schooling for poor children and orphans. Notably, were the two schools in Yorkshire, Broughton School set up in 1820 through the benefaction of Stephen Tempest, and the school in Gargrave set up by Sir Charles Tempest in 1850.

Here the rudiments of the Christian religion, reading, writing and arithmetic were taught to the children of estate workers (The Tempests of Broughton, by M. E Lancaster). And of course, Warnborough College (Oxford) established in 1973 by Ethyl M Tempest-Mogg. An eco-friendly college where sustainability is a priority.
